Porto Koufo

Porto Koufo, a bay located at Toronaios is the safest and largest natural port in Greece and is ready to accept any kind of craft. The name Porto Koufo "Deaf port" is mentioned by Thucydides. On the rocky and rugged coastline exist caves, one of which, in the south-east side of the entrance, visitors can visit by boat.

During the Second World War it was used by the Germans because of its strategic location and provided direct access to the Aegean. Today the ruins of fortifications built by the Germans are still there.

Kartalia - an attraction of the area - the southernmost cape of Sithonia took its name from the eagles, so called by the inhabitants. The area can only be visited by boat. The view of the cliffs rising above the bay is breathtaking. In the area there are taverns with fresh fish.
