8 Exotic beaches in Halkidiki
In Halkidiki, one can find any kind of beach they wish... sandy, pebbly, with shallow or deep water, crowded or deserted. This time, we chose eight beaches whose beauty resembles to images of exotic landscapes and are truly worth a visit.
Spathies
In the Sithonia peninsula, 7.5 km from Nikiti and after the famous Kalogria Beach, spathies beach is located. A very small bay with calm, shallow, cool water. It is distinguished for the pines that cover most of the entire part and provide shade all day. The lack of organized sun beds is what elevates its exotic beauty.
Koviou Beach
Koviou beach is a small bay in Sithonia, stuck on the rocky coastline, about 6 km south of Nikiti, between St. John beach, and Kalogria. The beach is surrounded by rocky hills with sparse undergrowth and young trees. The water deepens smoothly, has a fantastic greenish color, perhaps the most intense of all waters of Halkidiki and the beach has fine white sand. To reach the Koviou beach you will park at the plateau next to the main road, at the place where there is related sign. Then, a small path leads you to the beach. The beach is not well organized, so you will need your own apparatus. When you are there, it's worth waiting for the sunset!
Karydi - Vourvourou
Karydi beach is a little precious diamond in the crown of Sithonia. An exotic beach in east Sithonia, 17 km from Nikiti, whith white sand, turquoise water, white rocks and a grove of pines. The beach is located between two small capes and has northeast orientation. Thus protected by the southern winds that are frequent in the summer and the sea is usually calm even when windy. The water is shallow and warm.
Goa Beach - Sarti
Secluded sandy beach in Sithonia, surrounded by a rock and wonderful view to mount Athos. It is located about 2 km south of Sarti, and got its name from the Goa Beach Bar which operates at the place. It is a small beach with a lot of noise and people because of the bar. A section of it is occupied by umbrellas and sunbeds of Goa bar and the rest of the coast is free. Access is via a dirt-road following the sign on the main road south of Sarti.
Kavourotrypes
This beach is located on the Sithonia peninsula, on the east side. These are small coves, hidden behind a beautiful pine forest, with small white washed beaches with crystal clear turquoise waters reminding of a pool, whith white rocks and pine trees that reach to the sea. This landscape of exotic beauty and the view of the imposing Mount Athos create a small earthly paradise. Kavourotripes formerly were little known only to locals and frequent visitors of the area. Today, although no road signs were ever placed to the place the "secret" is shared by many.
Glarokavos
An enormous beach, one of the most beautiful in Cassandra. Located on the east side of the peninsula, near the village of Pefkohori. The location is stunning, with a natural harbor, pine trees that give shade to the few "lucky", crystal waters and beach with pebbles.
Afytos
In Afitos, one of the most beautiful villages of Halkidiki, the road to the beach has two branches: to the left it leads down to the harbor, the "boats" as is known to the locals. There you will find a few taverns on the seafront, and coffee bar with sun loungers and parasols. The beach is small and during the summer months quite crowded. The other beach, to the right of the road is “Liossi” with beach bars and restaurants. Under the settlement we find other beautiful beaches, such as Moudounou, Afytis, Daphne, Valopetres, for the most part organized with white sand and crystal waters.
Drenia
East of the island of Ammouliani is a cluster of small islands. It got its name from the largest island, Drenia. In the past only the residents of Ammouliani went there. Today, in Drenia you will find sun umbrellas and sun beds, a bar and restaurant. You can reach from Ouranoupolis by boat or rent a boat for yourself and explore all the islands. For lovers of the underwater, get a mask and flippers and explore the magnificent underwater scenery.
